5083 Marine Aluminum plate is a high-end application of aluminium alloy. Since it is used in the marine field, it has stricter process requirements and performance standards than other ordinary aluminium alloy products. How to choose a proper one for your shipbuilding?
The selection of marine aluminium sheet has four principles. Firstly, it should have high specific strength and specific modulus. The structural strength and size of ships are closely related to the yield strength and elastic modulus of the material.
Since the elastic modulus and density of aluminum alloys are roughly the same, the addition of alloying elements has little effect. Therefore, increasing the yield strength within a certain range is effective in reducing the structure of the ship.
Secondly, it should have excellent welding performance. It is usually difficult for high-strength aluminum alloys to have excellent corrosion resistance and weldability at the same time. Therefore, marine aluminum sheets are generally medium-strength, corrosion-resistant and weldable alloys.
At present, the automatic argon arc welding method is mainly used in ships. Good weldability means that the tendency of cracks formed during welding of aluminum alloy is very small. That is to say that marine grade plat should have good welding crack resistance. Because under shipbuilding conditions, the lost welding performance cannot be restored by heat treatment again.
Next, it should have excellent corrosion resistance. Ship structures are used in harsh seawater media and marine environments. Therefore, excellent corrosion resistance is one of the main indicators of 5083 marine-grade aluminum sheets.
Finally, it should good cold and hot forming properties. Because the shipbuilding has to undergo multiple treatments of cold processing and hot processing, marine aluminum alloys must be easy to process and shape, without cracks, and can still meet the strength requirements after processing.
The selection of marine aluminum sheet is relatively strict. The common choices are 5083, 5454, 5754 and 5086 aluminum sheet. In addition to meeting the above requirements, they don’t burn and is safe in fire. Welcome to leave message below to send inquiry directly.
